I had a plan: move to Vancouver, keep my head down, and do what I can to impress my new team. But that was before the woman I hooked up with and can’t stop thinking about showed up at my community outreach project. And as luck would have it, she’s my new boss, and completely off-limits.

As a professional hockey player with a bad press record, I’m used to having to prove myself. And ever since a massive misunderstanding landed me in the proverbial penalty box, I’ve been fighting to get out.

So, when the Vancouver Rangers PR team suggests I brighten my image by completing a community outreach project building houses, I know this is my chance to recreate myself once and for all.

But on day one of my construction exile, I come face-to-face with Dani, my latest one-night stand. Except now she’s not the girl from the bar. She’s my boss. And she is not happy to see me.

Dani’s made it clear she wants nothing to do with me, but I can feel her chocolatey gaze tracking me from across the job site. And when I learn how she really feels—that her heated glances are fuelled with nothing but rage—I have every urge to prove her wrong.

If Dani doesn’t want to acknowledge what’s gone on between us, fine. We don’t have to dissect it. But I know how to fight fire with fire. She wants me to forget, but I’m not about to do that.

If she’s going to dangle herself in front of me, I’m going to do the same— because while she’s trying her best to ignore me, I’ll be making every effort to be unavoidable.

I know I’m already on thin ice, but I’ll be damned if that stops me from going after what I want.
And right now, what I want most is her.
